The artist budget for the project is $2,500, which includes the artist design fee and all costs associated with fabrication of ten awards. The application deadline is October 27, 2008 (this is not a postmark deadline), so don't delay. Download the complete RFQ here.

Has the GPAC met their own posted deadlines?

Thanks for commenting! An update - a panel met on November 4 to choose the finalists for this project. They will meet again during the week of Dec 15 to interview the finalists and their proposals. Announcements of finalists and the winning artist will be annouced publicly in January. Please let us know if you have other questions!

Have the finalists been notified ? Will the unchosen participants be notified?
The notification process is important to public relation.

Indeed you are correct, the notification process is important to the public realm and we want to make sure that we have all of the correct information to provide. Since we are still in the midst of the artist selection process, we will announce the chosen artist as well as the finalists once the selection process has been completed. So stay tuned!

I was pleased that the GPAC made a public call to artists for the creation of this object.
I entered this contest and would also simply like to know if it is over for me. With Anon.there seems to be confusion and frustration about public notification and the right of individual artists that entered the contest to be personally notified whether they are in or out. Good communications indeed would be good for relations between individual visual artists and the GPAC.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter. D.L.Edwards

I regret any confusion regarding the status of applications to our calls for artists. The Office of Public Art’s procedure for notifying artists about the status of their application is to contact finalists when they are chosen by the committee. Once the committee has finished the finalist interviews and chosen an artist for the commission, all artists are personally contacted via letter regarding their application, which will include the name of the artist who was chosen for the commission. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to be in touch. Sincerely, Renee Piechocki, Director, Office of Public Art.
